An awe-inspiring African mask carved by Wilson Aboagye and his team that was inspired by the Adinkra symbol Hye Won Hye.

Hye Won Hye is an Adinkra symbol that reminds the viewer to endure and overcome and to stay strong despite the many adversities and hardships they may encounter. Hye Won Hye translates as "that which does not burn" in the Akan language.

This definition comes from the ancient practices of African priests. The priests could walk over hot coals barefoot without burning their feet. This ritual represented physical and mental endurance and the ability to make the impossible possible.

This mask measures approximately 18.5 inches (height), 7.75 inches (width) and 2.2 inches (depth). It is made out of Sese wood and features a type of brass metalwork known as a repoussé. Weighs 2.1 lbs.

Handcrafted and imported from Ghana, your purchase helps support local Ghanaian artisans, their family and the community. Each item is handmade so there may be slight and subtle differences in size, color, and pattern. These slight differences are what makes each African Mask unique and a true work of art.
